Cache Valley, Utah

Old barn located in Cache Valley, Utah just outside of Logan. I snapped this picture in April of 2010 on my drive home from Utah State University. I love this old barn. The advertisement was painted on the barn during the 20's.

New painting

I completed a painting for a friend of mine who collects Fiestaware. She wanted the painting to go in her kitchen and match all the different colors of Fiestaware that she has collected over the years. I spent some time researching the different colors that are used in Fiestaware and tried to incorporate those into the painting. The chair was inspired by some chairs I had seen in Savanah. A place that my friend DJ had recently gone on vacation to and really enjoyed. Here is DJ with her new painting.

Purchased some new paintings!

Yesterday, Michael and I had the opportunity to travel over to the studio of Linda Blondheim. Wow, what an amazing artist! I had seem her work on line and have admired it for some time but to actually see her paintings "in the flesh" so to speak was incredible! She paints landscapes of Florida and really has a gift of capturing the beauty of the area. I ended up buying four paintings for my home and I am so excited to get them framed and hung up. If you get a chance, please check out her blog http://linda-blondheim.blogspot.com and if you are ever in Gainesville, please go to her studio. It is off the beaten path in the heart of the natural beauty of Florida. She is an incredible artist and you will not be disappointed.

Florida Manatee

Over Christmas break, our family headed out to Blue Springs Park in central Florida. It is a great place to spot manatee in the wild. During the winter the manatee come in from the St. John's river to get warm. Since Blue Springs is spring fed, the temperature remains a constant 72 degrees. Think of it as a manatee hot tub!
