Florida Manatee

Over Christmas break, our family headed out to Blue Springs Park in central Florida. It is a great place to spot manatee in the wild. During the winter the manatee come in from the St. John's river to get warm. Since Blue Springs is spring fed, the temperature remains a constant 72 degrees. Think of it as a manatee hot tub!

New drawing

I have been playing around with getting back into doing portraits again. Most have been pencil, charcoal and pastels. The children at the school have been my subjects. They really enjoy having their picture drawn. It is amzaing how still they can sit when they know that you are doing a picture of them. What I love most is their reaction when I show them the finished product. They are thrilled when I give them their picture and it is great to see the joy on their faces. You think I had given them a million dollars by their reaction. Here is a sketch I did of a co workers two girls.
